The answer to your question is YES! You can have your original source files sent to you in addition to your DVDs. These source files can be simply imported directly into iMovie (or any other mainstream video editing program).

Just know that once your videos are digitized at iMemories, we store them in your very own private and secure iMemories account. We provide some basic editing tools that also make the process easy (to delete and edit out material you no longer want). So, with iMemories, you have the choice of using our online software or iMovie – whichever way you want to go. Note: If you choose to have your source files sent to you, you need to purchase a USB thumb drive or USB hard drive to transport the files – as they are very large.

I plan to send in about 20 tapes, so a huge investment for me, and was wondering if once they are converted .. can I make imovie based on small clips from multiple tapes? I know there is a lot of ‘fluff’ on the tapes and I just want to take the memories I want to keep and make a misc. DVD, can I do this???

iMemories charges by the tape – no matter how much video is included – to keep it simple for you, and for us. Plus, it costs us the same to process a tape whether it has 30 minutes of video or if it has 2 hours of video.

Thanks for your question. Timing depends on which program you choose (See it Before You DVD it or Direct to DVD) – 2-3 weeks to digitize, then whenever you order the DVD, it takes only 1-2 days to ship out. Visit here to see details on both options!
